Song of the Cursed Boy's Flute

Description

This picture is a extension of my picture, "Song of the Forest."

I'm not implying that Link is cursed. If you've ever played the game A Link to the Past, Link is given his flute by a boy who sought the golden power. The boy ended up as a cursed creature in the dark world and when Link found him his mind was growing hazy and he asked Link to play the flute for him one last time. Then the boy turned into a misshapen tree and Link had to travel to the light world in Kakariko village to tell the boy's father that he was no longer around. It's a very sad part of the game.

This piece is based off the game, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. It's one of my favorite Zelda games. Link is sitting on the stump playing the song of the cursed boy. In the original game the instrument was called a flute even though it was obviously an ocarina. But I wanted to draw Link playing a flute anyway.

The monster come from different popular video games. There are the Four Sword Links, Yoshis, a Goomba, and a Piranha Plant from Mario. Rambling Mushrooms, Mobile Sprouts, Mr. Saturns, and a Territorial Oak from Earthbound. A Rabite and a Mushboom from Secret of Mana. Etecoons from Super Metroid. Kirby from... erm... Kirby. Pikachu from Pokemon and Snake in a box from Metal Gear, albeit the box is from Smash Bros. Brawl.

And the plant life is based off the plants from the Secret of Mana Mana Tree official game art.

Well, it took a while, but I told you that I would (probably) critique this.

Vision is 5. You focused all of the attention on Link playing the flute, but I love how you also filled out the entire page. Nothing goes unnoticed, and the entire picture is interesting to look at.

Originality is 5. I honestly don't believe that you will find another picture like this anywhere on DA. Not many think to put such power into the flute scene.

Technique is 5. I can't find much that is inconsistent with the drawing. You skill shines in this picture.

Impact is 4. Why did I take one star? Simple reason. Its not colored. The black and white is excellent, but in a drawing like this, you can only go so far without color. Color would have set a better mood. It would have made the pic more lively. Its good now, but it would have been best in color.
